Yes, our services are to help those who are on benefits and low income. Unfortunately, we don’t operate on a legal aid basis as we are not lawyers or Barristers but here to help you as your Lay Representative or McKenzie Friend.

Yes, we can visit you at your home or in a suitable place that is convenient for you. It has to be within a 50-mile radius of Birmingham.

Don’t worry we completely understand that not everyone can pay upfront. We offer an option where you can pay half and then the remaining half when the work is completed.

We hold the same undergraduate degrees that a lawyer will hold. Just the way they know the law we also know the law. The only difference is that a qualified solicitor holds a practicing certificate and we don’t but it doesn’t mean we don’t know the law.

A lay representative is a person who is not legally qualified but accompanies another during a court or tribunal hearing. They can address the court on your behalf just like a solicitor or barrister would. It derives from the Lay Representatives (Rights of Audience) Order 1999.

A McKenzie friend is someone who accompanies you during a court hearing and quietly assists you in court but is unable to directly address the court on your behalf. The term ‘McKenzie’ derives from a court of appeal case, McKenzie v McKenzie 1970.
